Functional diagnostics and therapy for CMD / TMD
in interdisciplinary cooperation with other departments
What does the abbreviation CMD mean?
The term "craniomandibular dysfunction" describes a series of mostly painful complaints of different types and origins in the masticatory system. The complaints occur during the function of the masticatory system or at rest in the head muscles or the jaw joint or even in the teeth.
The causes of the symptoms are of a different nature. These must be determined using suitable examination techniques.
What are we going to do?
We listen to you.
With a detailed specific and pain anamnesis we can secure valuable information.
CMD is diagnosed by exclusion. This means that a thorough clinical and radiological examination of the teeth and the periodontium is the prerequisite and the first step in the diagnosis.
Diagnosis usually requires a dental functional analysis using manual and digital examination techniques.
In order to improve symptoms and achieve long-term stabilization, cooperation between different specialist areas is necessary.
We attach great importance to this interdisciplinary communication between dentists, physiotherapists, orthopedists, radiologists and also oral and maxillofacial surgeons.
Billing of functional diagnostic measures
The billing for examination techniques is part of the dental fee schedule GOZ, but not part of the services provided by statutory health insurance. This may result in additional costs for those with statutory insurance. We would be happy to advise you.
